Judges 14:5 Samson went down to Timnah with his father and mother. When he got to the vineyards of Timnah, a young lion came at him, roaring. 6 The Spirit of GOD came on him powerfully and he ripped it open barehanded, like tearing a young goat. But he didn’t tell his parents what he had done.

This was an ambush against Samson. An ambush is a trap or sudden and surprise attack the enemy uses to waylay us in our journey with Jesus. The enemy can strike unexpectedly and aggressively. A young lion roared against him – a young lion is a strong lion – Samson knew he was in for a good fight but he wasn’t going to let this young lion keep him from receiving his desire.

As Christians we are in a battle as recorded 1Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
